France could lend $ 13 million to help Cambodia grow rubber
In order to develop family-based rubber farming, the Cambodian Ministry of Agriculture plans to apply for a $ 13 million loan assistance to the French Agency for Development (AFD). The loan assistance will be used to support farmers in Rada Naky and Battambang farmers to grow rubber.
According to the Cambodian Ministry of Agriculture Rubber Authority Bossopa 14, said the application for loan assistance is AFD support Cambodia family rubber planting industry development project fourth stage. At present, the Ministry is studying and statistical data, the next three months will be submitted to the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Agriculture leadership audit.
Buso Pau said that the Cambodian Ministry of Agriculture is currently studying a total of 6,000 hectares of planted rubber land in the province of Radhina and Battambang. Two families from the two provinces have expressed interest in investing in rubber farming. The aid project will provide farmers with low interest loans.
Busuo Pa said that in 2016, Cambodia exports 14.5 million tons of rubber, an increase of 18,000 tons. The price of the exported rubber is between $ 2400 and $ 2,500 per tonne.
